Important dates to consider for the 2026 Election

New York heads to the polls in 2026 to choose a Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller, and all 26 U.S. House seats. With several of the nation’s most competitive House districts, New York could help decide control of Congress. Here’s every date that matters for the 2026 cycle.

  • October 24, 2026: Voter Registration Deadline: General
  • October 24, 2026: Mail Ballot Application Deadline: General (online/mail)
  • Oct 24 to Nov 1, 2026: Early Voting: General
  • November 3, 2026: General Election Day · 6am to 9pm

Polls open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day. New York does not require photo ID to vote; first-time voters who registered by mail without ID may be asked to show it. If you’re in line by 9 p.m., you may cast your ballot.
